Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body? It breathes, excretes, absorbs and protects. Imagine that your skin is a huge, waterproof, leak proof but permeable, super-stretchable sack that keeps your insides in and the environment and germs out. It is subjected to heat, cold, rain, bacteria, sun and chemical and environmental pollution.
It is your largest erogenous zone, responsive to touch and temperature. Rich in nerve endings and touch receptors, the skin transmits sensations of pleasure and in to the brain, which, over time, are etched into the map of your face.
When you take care of your skin, keep it clean, nourish it, and pamper it, it will respond with gratitude! |

Nancy - Esthetician and Owner My Journey … began when I left a sales position at Bellsouth Mobility in 2000 and started a course in interior design. After finishing an uplifting and intriguing program in Residential Interiors at the Art Institute, I thought this journey would take me into the wonderful, colorful, and creative world of designing whatever I wanted. However, I began to understand that was not a practical decision; my goal was to enter back into the job market as quickly as possible and do something that I could enjoy. I have always practiced good skin care and had established a home-based business selling natural and good quality skin care products and cosmetics to friends and family. However, it was a nightmare trying to convince them that it was worth the investment spending money on high-end skin care products. I started investigating the ingredients so I could explain how a product would help their skin. After having many discussions with my husband about becoming stronger in this area, he saw a school on Roswell Road to become a licensed esthetician. That was just what I was looking for! I could get back into the job market with many options! My Spa Journey… began because I wanted to create a place where today’s women could simply escape for a moment and find an atmosphere with tranquility, relaxation, and serenity without having to travel far. My place would offer professional skin care treatments that would help keep the skin healthy and attractive, so I created The Siesta, A Spa Journey. The mural that you see when entering is a duplication of a painting called “The Siesta”, the artist’s name is Paul Gauguin; this particular piece of art as described on The Metropolitan Museum’s website: “…the unaffected grace and communal ease of Tahitian women impressed Gauguin enormously. The artist worked on this painting over a lengthy period around 1892–94…” (source: www.metmuseum.org). To achieve this ambiance, The Siesta is a day spa for women. We want every woman to feel relaxed and pampered whether sitting in the infrared sauna enjoying a soothing CD, or receiving a massage, a body treatment or facial. Twenty-two colors throughout the spa easily melt away anxiety and stress and prepare the mind and soul for total relaxation even if it is a waxing service. A unique boutique offers visitors the opportunity to purchase items not commonly found and is constantly being updated with newer items. You are sure to find a special gift any time of the year or you can just purchase a flexible gift card! The Siesta is a multi-cultural day spa and has been designed to accommodate clients in walkers or wheelchairs. The treatment beds are ergonomic in order to offer the most comfortable experience ever; you will likely fall asleep during your spa service. We do not mind that because it is all about you!
